LGC, an international leader in Laboratory Services for pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare and medical devices, has selected Terrington Data Management’s Labsform and DocMan software to provide both data and document management solutions at their Discovery Park Laboratory inSandwich, Kent.

The Laboratory, which is part of LGC’s Health Sciences division, specialises in the physical and chemical characterisation of drug substances and drug products and provides an array of analytical services for pharmaceutical and drug development companies. LGC selected Terrington’s software products as they offered flexible systems which could be configured by the group to match the diversity of services offered by LGC at the Discovery Park site. Furthermore as both Labsform and DocMan utilise the same database all the stored information can be integrated improving efficiency, compliance and traceability from sample receipt to reporting.

Rich Mclean, Head of Pharmaceutical Sciences at LGC, commented, “Partnering with Terrington and adopting the Labsform data management system allows us to continue to provide a first-class customer service and support our quality laboratory work with a state-of-the-art data management tool.  The introduction of the system into our laboratories demonstrates the positive steps that LGC continue to make in providing clients across many sectors cutting edge solutions to their problems. By complimenting our significant industrial expertise and extensive instrument capabilities, Labsform and DocMan will not only provide efficiency gains but also a regulated tool to improve our work-flow.”

To add to these efficiency gains LGC also chose to implement the software via the cloud-based hosted option offered by Terrington. As an alternative to the traditional fixed licence fee structure, accessing the software via Cloud and adopting the Software as a Service Model (SaaS) LGC will benefit from reduced capital expense and a managed service without any IT headaches.

Commenting on the delivery of the Software as a Service to LGC via the Cloud Mark Williams, Terrington’s Managing Director, added:

“It’s particularly gratifying to work with such a progressive client group who recognise the benefits in utilising Cloud-hosting and SaaS”

Mark continues: “The SaaS model is rapidly growing as the deployment method of choice because of the financial benefits of smoothing cash flows and freeing up of investment capital.  In addition it also frees up IT resource, allowing IT to focus on strategic issues.”
